BEST

BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) is a nationwide competition that challenges students to build a robot to solve a strategic, real world challenge. The competition is during the fall semester, and has a six week build season. Materials are everyday house hold items such as PVC pipe, plywood, and other objects. The competition does not only involve a working robot, but includes the team to be able to produce a notebook describing the design and engineering process, an informational booth that highlights the team, and a presentation that professionally represents the club and robot. CircuitRunner members develop decision making, project management, and other valuable skills for life.

The BEST team in the CircuitRunners Club is the largest team, integrating over 70% of members. This fall semester competition has an area for every CircuitRunner, ranging from building and programming to public speaking and leadership roles. Last year’s challenge, Bugs!, required the CircuitRunners to create an innovative robot that would capture playing pieces and navigate diverse terrain. However, other areas of the BEST competition: booth, notebook, and presentation, were successes for the CircuitRunners.
