Sub-organizations
First Robotics Competition (FRC):
FRC is a program for high school students focused on the construction and competition of large-scale robots. Teams design, build, program, and optimize robots to complete annual challenges. FRC fosters teamwork and promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills.
First Tech Challenge (FTC):
FTC, designed for middle and high school students, revolves around building and programming smaller robots for dynamic challenges. The program enhances creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills as students experiment with various designs, mechanisms, and strategies.
Operations:
Operations entail managing and coordinating team logistics such as meetings, schedules, and resource allocation. Tasks include workflow management, budgeting, procurement, and maintaining a safe workspace, all aimed at ensuring team efficiency.
Marketing:
Marketing promotes the robotics team and its achievements through compelling storytelling, visual materials, and varied communication channels. The goal is to attract sponsors, raise awareness, and inspire students to pursue STEM fields.
Fundraising:
Fundraising secures financial support for the robotics team through events, sponsorship requests, and grant proposals. Funds raised cover expenses, equipment needs, and educational opportunities for team members.
Outreach:
Outreach extends the robotics organization's influence by promoting STEM education and robotics interest in the community. Outreach activities may include workshops, mentoring programs, and demonstrations, benefiting both the community and team members by providing leadership and teaching opportunities.
Joining CircuitRunners
Any student from Wheeler High School is welcome to join CircuitRunners! Although the majority of our new members enter as freshman, many come in as sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
The new member process begins during August, and there will be interest meetings and showcases where student can learn more about the club and our activities.
After joining, members will be sorted into their teams and go through a member development process to learn the necessary safety requirements and tool usage to operate in a shop environment.
Providing Value
Our motto: “From Potential to Kinetic,” isn’t just a catchphrase. Our goal is to take the potential from all our students and support them in learning new skills, gaining valuable experience, and igniting passions in STEM. Even if you are not a member of the student leadership, there are many ways CircuitRunners members help their team. This ranges from assembling a portfolio for the upcoming competition, to programming the movement of the robot. No matter your skill level, you can still help out your CircuitRunners team.
Not Just Robotics
While we are a robotics organization, we have much more than just robotics! Running a student-led effort requires a dedicated, effective leadership and many other non-technical aspects. We are always looking for any members interested in those areas, whether it be marketing, outreach efforts, fundraising, or shop management. Any students who wish to help out in a non-robotics manner are just as valuable.
